Fermín López wanted by Manchester United, PSG and Chelsea, but Barcelona do not want to sell

Fermín López is in demand. Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have all been linked with the Barcelona player this week, and reports say a January bid could be worth around 80 million euros.

Barcelona do not want to sell. But with three big clubs watching, the next few weeks could get busy.

United look for a new No. 10

The newest report is about Manchester United. United are said to see Fermín as a long-term player for the No. 10 role. Bruno Fernandes is 32, and his contract ends next summer, although the club have an option to extend it.

United have reportedly asked about Fermín and about Pablo Barrios of Atlético Madrid. According to the same reports, they have not opened talks for either player yet and are only watching the situation.

Barcelona’s asking price is reported to be around 80 million euros.

PSG and Chelsea are also interested

United are not alone. Reports earlier this week said PSG are getting ready to make a serious offer of around 80 million euros. Chelsea are also thinking about a bid. They tried to sign him in the summer of 2025, but he turned them down.

Barcelona would like to keep him. He is a homegrown player and has a contract until June 2031. However, the club’s money problems are well known, and reports say a very big offer could make them think again.

A good start to the season

Fermín is 23 and has five goals and four assists so far this season. He won Olympic gold with Spain in 2024.

Under Hansi Flick, he still has to fight for his place. Dani Olmo plays in the same area of the pitch, so Fermín does not start every game.

Our take

It is easy to see why so many clubs like him. Fermín arrives in the box at the right time and scores important goals. Players like that are hard to find, and they cost a lot.

For now, a January move looks unlikely. His contract is long, he grew up at the club and Barcelona have said nothing about selling. The summer could be a different story, especially if he keeps sharing minutes with Olmo.
